This quarter I decided to highlight the artist Jadé Fadojutimi. This London-based artist uses vivid colors and brush strokes to convey expressive emotions, and a sense of self. Fadojutimi refers to her work as “emotional landscapes” and often draws inspiration from various sounds, objects and places. She has had several solo exhibitions, one of these being  the “Connecting in Silence” exhibit at Taka Ishii Gallery in Kyoto, given several artist talks, as well as had her work featured in many different collections like in the Baltimore Museum of Art in Baltimore, MD.

What I really like about Fadojutimi’s work is her expressiveness. She has outstanding movement in all of her pieces, and in particular “A MOMENT NEVER TOO DIVINE” and “TRANSMISSION”, as pictured below. The quality of her work draws a lot from abstract expressionism, as does mine, which is another aspect that I value. I can learn a lot from this artist, from her usage of layers, to her usage of space, but also her ability to draw inspiration from many sources.
